Fox reported Eleanor Terrett said the Digital Chamber's Token Alliance met with pro-crypto SEC Commissioners Hester Peirce and Mark Uyeda, outlining the proposed Day 1 priorities of Donald Trump's new administration, including: ⚫ Rescind 2019 framework for "investment contract" analysis of digital assets, saying it was too broad and impractical. ⚫ Withdraw and reconsidered proposed amendments to Rule 3b-16, expanding the definition of "exchange" to include Decentralized Finance (DeFi) markets. ⚫ Immediately review all existing digital-asset-related investigations, Wells Notices, and in-process litigation cases. ⚫ Withdraw and reconsider the proposed Safeguarding Rules, which include eliminating state banks and trusts as qualified custodians for digital assets. ⚫ Rescind SAB 121, which creates accounting problems by requiring custodial entities to hold assets in their balance sheet and potentially publish a revocation order in the Federal Register.

Over $830m was liquidated in the crypto market over the past 24 hours as Bitcoin fell below $100,000.

A Kaiko report revealed key developments in the 2024 European crypto market, including: ⚫ Euro trade volume stayed above 2023 levels, with €50bn in November, nearly doubling that of October. ⚫ BTC-EUR surpassed BTC-JPY for the first time, surging from 3.6% from the start of the year to 9.9%. ⚫ Euro-backed stablecoins saw a record monthly volumes, nearing $800m in November. ⚫ MiCA-compliant stablecoins dominated the market share, growing from around 20%-30% to 90.6%.

The Assets Under Management (AUM) of Bitcoin ETFs in the U.S. has now surpassed that of gold ETFs, marking a significant milestone for Bitcoin despite gold's 20-year head start.

The SEC issued a Wells Notice to the NFT project CyberKongz, alleging securities violations related to the sale of Genesis Kongz NFTs in April 2021. CyberKongz explained the "sale" was just a contract migration (moving contracts from one system to another), questioning the SEC for not knowing the difference. CyberKongz said such discourse would have “major implications” for the Web3 gaming industry and that the enforcement action is a last-minute attempt from the Biden administration to set the industry back.
