In a new statement, Ilya Lichtenstein, who confessed to stealing 120,000 Bitcoin from Bitfinex in 2016, denied any external involvement in the hack. Refuting allegations made in a Netflix documentary, Lichtenstein claimed sole responsibility for the crime and denied his father’s or any other party’s involvement.
The 2016 hack remains one of the largest security breaches in crypto history.
