Yield Guild Games (YGG) has announced the launch of a new platform called “Onchain Guilds” on Base, a layer two solution for the Ethereum blockchain. This will allow guilds to build and manage their reputation through verifiable records of their work and achievements on the blockchain. YGG was born in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, when gaming guilds led by Filipinos started to grow.
The platform aims to help guilds scale and cater to their needs, no matter the market conditions. The Onchain Guilds platform was launched in November 2024 with about 30 guilds testing it out. It is expected that guilds will adopt sub-specializations depending on their interests, such as e-sports, content creators, players, and more.
Base’s benefits will enable the platform to reach emerging markets in Africa, India, and Southeast Asia. Onchain Guilds is a step towards building a new internet and economy that is accessible to everyone, regardless of their background.
