China is pushing the boundaries of aerospace technology with its hypersonic aircraft development. Beijing-based company Lingkong Tianxing Technology has successfully tested its Yunxing prototype, aiming to revolutionize global travel. The hypersonic plane, capable of reaching speeds of Mach 4 (3,069 mph or 5,000 km/h), could enable passengers to circumnavigate the Earth in just seven hours.
This advancement would significantly reduce travel times, making a London to New York trip possible in merely 1.5 to 2 hours. The ambitious project plans to debut a full-sized supersonic passenger jet by 2027. With ongoing engine tests and vigorous efforts, China is positioning itself as a leader in hypersonic travel.
Meanwhile, other global players like the US-based Venus Aerospace and SpaceX's Elon Musk are also exploring supersonic travel, indicating a potential resurgence in commercial supersonic aviation. The race for hypersonic travel is heating up, promising a new era of rapid global connectivity.
