Horst Jicha, the CEO of USI Tech, a cryptocurrency mining and trading platform, has fled after being released on bail on charges including securities fraud and money laundering. Jicha was arrested in August 2023 and released on $5 million bail in September. He was under house arrest in New York City and required to wear an electronic ankle bracelet. However, Jicha cut off the ankle bracelet and fled on December 29, 2023. He has not been seen since and is now considered a fugitive. The FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to his arrest. Jicha's flight is a major setback for the prosecution of USI Tech. The company is accused of defrauding investors out of millions of dollars through a Ponzi scheme. Jicha's disappearance makes it less likely that investors will be able to recover their lost funds.
