According to Odaily, a Seattle-Tacoma International Airport official revealed on Wednesday that hackers demanded $6 million worth of Bitcoin from the airport operator in exchange for files stolen during a cyberattack last month. These files were released on the dark web this week. The official stated that the Port of Seattle, which owns and operates the airport, has decided not to pay the ransom.

Lance Lyttle, the airport's aviation director, mentioned that the attack has been linked to a ransomware group known as Rhysida. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is currently conducting a criminal investigation into the incident. On Monday, the hackers posted copies of eight files stolen from the Port's system on the dark web and demanded 100 Bitcoins for the data. Lyttle informed a U.S. Senate committee that the airport appears to have thwarted the attack, although the hackers managed to encrypt some data.
