Blockchain investigator ZachXBT has alerted the community to a scam meme coin promotion using several major X accounts.

According to ZachXBT, the compromised accounts used to promote the fake meme coin on Solana (SOL) include those of Yahoo News UK, Lenovo India, Money Control, and People.

X accounts marked as Alexander Lacazette and Oliver Stone have also posted about the fake meme coin on Solana. The scam token in question is dubbed HACKED, as shown in the screenshots ZachXBT shared.

ZachXBT provided an update indicating that the scammers likely lost money.

“So far it seems like the scammers likely lost money purchasing this method as the top traders have barely made ~$1K and market cap is $67K.”

According to available details, it appears that the compromised X accounts gave permission to the same site or application. In cautioning the community, ZachXBT advises users to revoke any connections to sites or apps they no longer use.

In August, hackers used the X account of French football star Kylian Mbappe to promote a fake MBAPPE meme coin. Earlier this month, hackers compromised the X accounts of family members of former U.S. president Donald Trump to promote a fake ‘World Liberty Financial’.

Notably, Trump unveiled the official crypto project on Sept. 16.
