Ethereum Founder Buterin: Crypto Steps into a New Era

At the TOKEN2049 conference in Singapore, Ethereum’s founder Vitalik Buterin took center stage, sharing insights into the evolving crypto landscape. As Bitcoin marks its 15th anniversary and Ethereum its 10th, Buterin highlighted that the crypto world has matured and is moving beyond its early phases.

Reflecting on the changes, Buterin noted that, with the rapid developments in artificial intelligence, crypto is now more accessible than ever. “Are we still in the early days? I don’t think so. We’re entering a new era where everyone will start using crypto with ease,” he remarked.

He also shed light on Ethereum’s improved efficiency, particularly with transaction fees falling dramatically. “What once cost between $10 and $1 is now down to mere cents. Thanks to Layer 2 solutions like Arbitrum and Optimism, transaction fees are nearly zero, and they offer top-tier security. The Merge has halved the average transaction confirmation time, and now, I can confirm my transactions in just 5-10 seconds,” Buterin explained.

According to Buterin, crypto is moving into a phase of widespread use, where it becomes a routine part of everyday life. This next chapter, driven by advancements in AI and blockchain technology, positions crypto as an accessible, fast, and secure financial tool for the masses.
