760 million dollar Bitcoin out in Asia's small country
Known for its high mountains and abundant water sources, it was determined that Bhutan, which provides most of the energy in the country from hydroelectric power plants, has a Bitcoin worth 760 million dollars. The country, which has 13 thousand Bitcoins, obtained all of its BTCs from mining activities.
It was determined that Jihan Wu, one of the founders of the Chinese Bitcoin mining device manufacturer Bitmain, had 13 thousand Bitcoins in Bhutan, where he had many known attempts. The research was done by the on-chain tracking and analysis firm Arkham.
He doesn't take it, he takes it out!
As it is known, Bhutan knows how to benefit from hydroelectric energy at significant levels due to its water resources and high mountains. While all of the country's energy is provided by hydroelectricity, Bitcoin mining has also started in recent years.
According to the information given by Arkham, Bhutan did not obtain any of the 13 thousand Bitcoins detected by purchases or acquisitions from illegal organizations. The value of these Bitcoins, which comes entirely from mining activities, is around 760 million dollars.
The country, which has stepped on the gas in mining operations as of 2023, has also established facilities in many regions. In the Google maps image below, you can see a large facility established in the Education City area, the project of which has been suspended.
As it is known, Bitdeer, the mining company owned by Jihan Wu, also has partnerships with the state of Bhutan.
