According to Foresight News, Japanese AI startup Sakana AI has successfully raised $100 million in a Series A funding round. The investment was led by New Enterprise Associates, Khosla Ventures, and Lux Capital. The newly acquired funds will be directed towards talent acquisition and infrastructure development to advance sustainable and energy-efficient AI technologies inspired by nature.
Sakana AI is collaborating with American chip manufacturer Nvidia to develop Japan's AI community. This partnership includes research initiatives, access to data centers, and the design of new technologies aimed at efficient foundational model development. Among the company's founders are researchers from Google.
Earlier this year, in January, Sakana AI completed a $30 million seed funding round, which was led by Lux Capital with participation from Khosla Ventures and others.
