Casio Computer Co., Ltd., the renowned Japanese multinational electronics company, has taken a bold step into the world of Web3 by partnering with the move-and-earn lifestyle app STEPN GO. The collaboration will introduce a limited-edition collection of NFT sneakers, marking a significant move for both brands. $GMT

Announced in a recent press release, this partnership is a key initiative under Casio’s VIRTUAL G-SHOCK project, which seeks to expand the appeal of its iconic G-SHOCK brand into the digital realm. The project is being executed in collaboration with FSL, the Web3 product development studio behind STEPN GO. Together, they will release 800 NFT sneakers, available in four distinct designs.

These limited-edition digital sneakers will be offered through the Raffle Mint on MOOAR, FSL’s dedicated NFT marketplace, from August 26 to August 29, 2024. Casio enthusiasts and NFT collectors alike can anticipate designs that encapsulate the essence of the G-SHOCK brand, incorporating elements inspired by the popular G-SQUAD line of sports-driven timepieces. The sneakers are designed not only to captivate within virtual spaces but also to mirror the shock absorption capabilities for which G-SHOCK watches are known, particularly during physical activities like running.

The collaboration underscores STEPN GO’s growing influence as a lifestyle app that leverages Web3 technologies to reward users for their daily movement and social interactions. The app has gained popularity by allowing users to earn crypto rewards, particularly through the purchase and sharing of NFT sneakers.

FSL co-founder Yawn Rong highlighted the importance of this partnership, stating, “We are always eager to bring more long-established companies and diverse intellectual properties into STEPN GO, to encourage more people to discover our Web3 lifestyle apps. This collaboration with Casio is a significant milestone for us, aligning with our broader vision of promoting mainstream Web3 adoption.”

This partnership follows a series of strategic collaborations by STEPN GO aimed at broadening its user base and driving global Web3 adoption. Notably, in April 2024, STEPN partnered with Adidas to release a co-branded collection of 1,000 Genesis Sneakers on the Solana blockchain. This collaboration, dubbed ‘STEPN x Adidas: Step into the Future,’ was part of a broader initiative to revolutionize the lifestyle app ecosystem.

As STEPN GO continues to build on its success, its CEO, Shiti Manghani, expressed excitement about the company’s direction, noting that the upcoming months are pivotal. “We’re thrilled to share this journey with our most dedicated supporters,” Manghani said.
