In an unexpected development, Elon Musk, CEO of #SpaceX and Tesla, accepted a fight challenge from Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on July 31, via social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
The exchange between Musk and Maduro ignited after Musk criticized the Venezuelan election, alleging it was fraudulent. Maduro responded to Musk's comments by challenging him to a fight, declaring, “I’m not afraid of you, Elon Musk. Let’s fight, wherever you want.”
Musk accepted the challenge with a provocative reply: “If I win, he resigns as dictator of Venezuela. If he wins, I give him a free ride to Mars.”
This confrontation is not Musk’s first foray into high-profile disputes. He previously challenged Russian President Vladimir Putin to a "single combat" and faced a defamation lawsuit in 2018 following a public clash with British cave diver Vernon Unsworth.
While the feasibility of the fight remains uncertain, Musk’s acceptance underscores his unconventional approach to political issues and his willingness to challenge authoritarian figures. His involvement in Venezuelan matters has drawn mixed reactions: some view it as a genuine effort to support the Venezuelan people, while others see it as a publicity stunt.
A poll conducted by Mario Nawfal, with nearly 42,000 respondents, shows that 79.8% believe Musk would win the hypothetical fight against Maduro, while only 10.3% think Maduro would prevail. The rest of the respondents are unaware of the situation.
