It was reported that Harris, a potential presidential candidate who declined an invitation to the upcoming Bitcoin conference, made negative remarks about Bitcoin. David Bailey, the conference organizer, cited these remarks, claiming they were relayed by a significant Democratic donor.
According to Bailey, Harris, widely anticipated to run for president, purportedly referred to Bitcoin as "the money of criminals." Bailey shared this claim on his account, stating: "I'm sorry, but you can't pretend you're interested in Bitcoin after you've been ruining our industry for four years, starting the 'Choke Point' operation, choosing Gensler and Warren as your champions. A major democratic donor told me that Kamala personally told him, 'Bitcoin is the money of criminals.'"
These alleged comments from Harris drew backlash from Bitcoin investors. David Gokhshtein, a prominent figure in the crypto industry, remarked, "He is not interested in Bitcoin. They have been attacking this sector for the last three and a half years. All they want is the vote."
Contrarily, billionaire cryptocurrency investor Mark Cuban stated that Harris' team had reached out to him with inquiries about
cryptocurrencie. Cuban mentioned that he received information suggesting Harris would be open to artificial intelligence and crypto.
Regarding the Bitcoin conference, Bailey had previously announced his engagement with Harris' team to speak at the event.
