Mt. Gox Moves $2.98 Billion in Bitcoin Within 2 Hours Amid Ongoing Creditor Repayments
On Tuesday morning, Mt. Gox transferred 2,239 Bitcoin (BTC), valued at approximately $149 million, to a Bitstamp wallet.
This followed two earlier transactions totaling 42,587 BTC (about $2.84 billion) to two separate addresses.
These transfers are part of Mt. Gox’s plan to repay $9 billion in crypto debt to creditors.
Earlier, Mt. Gox moved 37,477 BTC to a new wallet labeled “15yPUC” and 5,110 BTC to an internal cold wallet.
Mt. Gox also sent 1,545 BTC to Bitbank and 48,641 BTC to a Kraken wallet.
Currently, Mt. Gox holds over 90,344 BTC, valued at $6.04 billion.
Bitstamp and Kraken are among the exchanges managing these repayments, which began on July 5.
Confirmations of payments have appeared on Mt. Gox’s subreddit, marking significant progress in settling the exchange’s debts.
