Ripple’s XRP Holdings and Potential Impact
The U.S. attorney highlighted that Ripple currently holds approximately 37 billion XRP in escrow, following recent releases, including the one for January 2025.
Deaton emphasized that these XRP tokens are not reflected on Ripple’s balance sheet, distinguishing it from companies like MicroStrategy, which directly account for their crypto holdings. At an XRP price of $8.72, the value of Ripple’s holdings could rise to $348.8 billion.
Using the valuation multiple applied by MicroStrategy (3x its net asset value), Ripple’s theoretical valuation could surpass $1 trillion when combining its XRP holdings and overall business value.
Additionally, Deaton noted Ripple’s recent buyback of $285 million in Series C shares at a valuation of $11-12 billion, which reportedly yielded a 50% return on investment for Series C investors. He suggested that if XRP were to reach $8, this buyback could highlight Ripple’s strategic vision.
However, Deaton clarified that these are speculative projections based on current data, with no certainty that XRP will reach $8 or that Ripple’s valuation will hit $1 trillion. He further speculated that Ripple might consider pursuing an IPO by late 2025 or early 2026
