The Constitution DAO experiment has been terminated. A group of web3 aficionados came together as a decentralised autonomous organisation in November 2021 with the common goal of purchasing a copy of the US Constitution at a Sotheby's auction. Since there are only 13 authentic, tangible copies of the US Constitution in existence, a vigorous bidding war was triggered by this sale. Despite raising well over $40 million in ETH, the organisation finally lost out to Ken Gryphon, the CEO of Citadel and a billionaire hedge fund manager. Following its failed grassroots attempt to purchase one of the most important and iconic papers in American history, Constitution DAO declared its dissolution.
