The United States Securities and Exchange Commission has adopted new rules requiring public companies, including listed crypto firms, to disclose any major cybersecurity incidents within four days of them being deemed "material." The rules will become effective 30 days after publication in the Federal Register and will also require periodic reporting on cybersecurity risk management measures. The SEC stated that the rules will benefit investors by strengthening cybersecurity risk management measures. The rules were proposed in March 2022 and were adopted on July 26, 2023.
