🎉Good news crypto fans! The blockchain bandit who swindled a user out of 1,155 Wrapped Bitcoin (wBTC) - a cool $68 million at the time - has returned nearly all the stolen loot.🕵️♂️ The funds, swapped for Ether (ETH) during their illicit vacation, came back as approximately 22,960.07 ETH, worth $65.7 million. That's over 96% of the original heist! 💰
The victim's wallet is now bulging with over 22,000 ETH. The return process was no simple bank transfer, oh no. It was a series of over 225 wallet transactions from various accounts, each ranging from 29 to 67 ETH.
The plot thickens as we learn that the victim and attacker had been in cahoots, with the victim initially agreeing to let the attacker keep 10% of the funds as a bounty. But, it seems this deal is off the table, with the attacker returning more than 90% of the funds.
So, what's the moral of the story? Always double-check the receiving address before you hit send. And remember, not all villains wear capes. Some return stolen crypto. What are your thoughts on this crypto caper? Let us know in the comments! 🕵️♀️💬
