Activity on the TON network sets a record high after Telegram allows advertising purchases with TON

Telegram chose the TON Blockchain due to its low transaction fees and high transaction speed. According to statistics, TON recorded 100,000 transactions per second (TPS) in a test in November last year.

According to TONstat.com, an additional 156,574 TON wallets were active on March 31, following the news of Telegram accepting TON for advertising payments. This number is double the previous record of 79,352, set on March 30.

The new mechanism allows owners of public Telegram channels with over 1,000 followers to receive 50% of the revenue from ads displayed on the channel. The withdrawal function with no fees is expected to be available on Telegram's Fragment platform in the coming weeks.

Telegram CEO Pavel Durov commented after this announcement: "This will create a cycle of benefits, where content creators can exchange TON for cash or reinvest them to promote and upgrade their channels."

Currently, Telegram channel owners only need to spend 20 TON (about $105) to launch their advertising campaign through the Fragment platform. Previously, advertisers needed at least 2 million euros (about $2.1 million) to run an official advertising campaign on Telegram.

The previously exorbitant minimum fee was intended to "ensure and maintain the quality" of advertising, according to Telegram. The significant reduction in fees helps the community easily access advertising on this platform.

With 700 million monthly active users and 1 trillion channel views per month, Telegram has a huge community. Alongside X (Twitter), Telegram is considered the most widely used media channel by Crypto investors today.

🎯 The price of the TON token has decreased by 7.7% in the past 24 hours, trading around $5 at the end of April 2. This occurred amidst selling pressure across the entire Crypto market, with Bitcoin (BTC) also dropping by more than 5%, currently at $65,300. However, compared to the beginning of March, TON is still up over 66%, from $3 to $5.
