According to Foresight News, the U.S. Justice Department, with court authorization, has dismantled a botnet used for cyberattacks, large-scale fraud, child exploitation, harassment, bomb threats, and export violations. Chinese citizen and St. Kitts and Nevis investor, Yunhe Wang, has been criminally charged for deploying malicious software and creating and operating a residential proxy service named '911 S5'.

According to an indictment released on May 24, from 2014 to July 2022, Wang and others are accused of creating and spreading malicious software to infiltrate and aggregate millions of home Windows computer networks worldwide. These devices are associated with over 19 million unique IP addresses, including 613,841 IP addresses located in the U.S. Wang subsequently earned millions of dollars by providing cybercriminals with access to these infected IP addresses for a fee.

The indictment further alleges that from 2018 to July 2022, Wang sold hijacked proxy IP addresses through his 911 S5 operation, earning approximately $99 million in cryptocurrency or fiat currency.
