Non-farm payrolls: October and November combined revised down by 8,000

According to the report from ChainCatcher, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released data showing that the non-farm employment increased by 43,000 in October, revised up from the initial 36,000; the non-farm employment increased by 212,000 in November, revised down from the initial 227,000. After the revisions, the total non-farm employment increase in October and November was 8,000 lower than the initial figures. In 2024, employment increased by 2.2 million (an average of 186,000 per month), lower than the 3 million increase (an average of 251,000 per month) in 2023. The unemployment rate in December remained largely unchanged at 4.1%. The unemployment rate has been between 4.1% and 4.2% for the past 7 months after rising earlier in 2024. The number of unemployed persons in December was 6.9 million, little changed.
