Christmas Day wasn't all merry for zkSync developers, as the network experienced a five-hour outage. The team announced on X (formerly Twitter) that they were "actively addressing the situation" and later revealed that a bug in the server had triggered one of the network's automated safety protocols. The issue was resolved, and zkSync is now fully operational. This incident adds to a series of blockchain network shutdowns and crashes in 2023, including Solana's four-hour outage in January, Polygon's 11-hour downtime in March, and Abitrum's 78-minute disruption on Dec. 15.
