The Genesis Block is the first (zero) block of the blockchain. Itโs a special case because it doesnโt reference any previous block. The Genesis Block contains a dated headline from The Times newspaper: โThe Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on the brink of the second bailout for banks.โ
