Avalanche has launched its biggest upgrade, Avalanche9000, which includes key technical changes to attract developers and enhance its ecosystem. The upgrade introduces the Etna module, designed to reduce transaction costs, lower validator operation fees, and make it easier for developers to create customized blockchains, known as subnets. Major improvements include ACP-77, which introduces cost-effective validators for subnets, and ACP-125, which reduces the C-chain base fee by 96%. The Avalanche Foundation also raised $250 million in a token sale to support these upgrades.
