Bitcoin shills are making fun of Hunan's $83 billion gold discovery. Most of them are using it to call out the commodity's supply dilution in favor of $BTC.

However, this recent discovery of ~1,000 tons of gold in China will dilute its supply by ~0.41%, considering a U.S. Geological Survey report of 244,000 tons of the yellow metal in the world's total estimated reserves.

While this is not a negligible dilution, Bitcoin's supply dilution is currently at ~0.80% annually, considering the 450 BTC daily issuance since April 2024's halving. It was twice as high before that, for what it's worth.
