Kraken Launches Licensed Crypto Derivatives Service in Australia
Kraken, a prominent cryptocurrency exchange, has officially launched a licensed brokerage service in Australia aimed at wholesale clients.
This new offering is designed to cater to the needs of institutional and large-scale investors seeking advanced trading options in the crypto derivatives market.
Available as of Nov. 3, eligible clients can now trade crypto-based derivatives through Kraken’s platform. These financial products are tied to cryptocurrency prices, allowing investors to engage without directly owning the digital assets. Interested parties can assess their eligibility and apply via the Kraken Pro app.
The new service offers a suite of derivatives with multi-collateral support, enabling clients to use fiat, stablecoins, and various cryptocurrencies as collateral. It includes various risk management tools and trading strategies to enhance users’ asset security.
However, Kraken has cautioned clients about the potential risks involved, noting that losses in certain crypto derivatives can significantly exceed initial investments.
Jonathan Miller, Kraken’s general manager for Australia, emphasized the importance of regulatory compliance in the exchange's operations.
He stated that the decision to introduce a licensed broker service underscores Kraken’s commitment to meeting local regulatory standards while addressing the needs of Australian wholesale clients.
