Elon Musk teased “69.420% coming soon” in a post about Trump’s lead over Harris, while Biden sparked backlash for allegedly calling Trump supporters “garbage.”
Elon Musk Hints at 69.420% After Trump-Harris Polls as Biden’s ‘Garbage’ Comment Sparks Uproar
Tesla and Spacex CEO Elon Musk stirred attention on social media platform X on Wednesday by posting, “69.420% coming soon,” in response to a post about former U.S. President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris. His post was in reply to one by Doge Designer highlighting Trump’s lead over Harris in betting markets, where the former president held 67.0% compared to Harris’ 33.2%
Meanwhile, a separate controversy unfolded involving President Joe Biden, who faced backlash after allegedly labeling Trump supporters as “garbage” in response to comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s remarks at a Trump rally, where Hinchcliffe called Puerto Rico “an island of garbage.” In an apparent reference to Trump, Biden stated:
The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters.
In response, Trump posted on X: “Joe Biden calls our supporters ‘garbage.’ You can’t lead America if you don’t love the American People. Kamala Harris and Joe Biden have shown they are both unfit to be President of the United States.”
Biden’s remarks sparked Republican outrage. The White House later clarified, releasing a transcript showing Biden referred to Hinchcliffe’s words, not all Trump backers. Biden later expanded on this point on X, stressing that his intent was to criticize “the hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico … as garbage,” noting that it didn’t reflect American values.
