The Indonesian exchange Tokocrypto, which is owned by the Binance Group, has recently gained a Physical Crypto Asset Trader (PFAK) license on its home turf. This is a big step in the compliance processes of Tokocrypto and Binance in Indonesia as it aimed at adapting to the new regulation of cryptocurrency in Indonesia.

Regulatory Approval Process

Actually, the process that Tokocrypto followed in order to acquire this license was quite a competitive one. It originally entered in 2019 as a Prospective Physical Crypto Asset Trader or CPFAK, owing to the highly regulated nature of Indonesia’s market. The Indonesian Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency or Bappebti has put Tokocrypto through its rigorous examination and granted the full license hence making Tokocrypto one of the select few fully licensed to be a crypto asset trader in Indonesia. With the PFAK license acquisition, Tokocrypto becomes the third exchange which proves that Indonesian crypto market is becoming more mature.

This license places Tokocrypto as a credible and trustworthy platform by demonstrating compliance with the legal provisions governing protection of investors and operations as required by Indonesia’s legal framework. This approval means that Tokocrypto has proper foundation for the continuation of expanding its services within a safety compliant realm.

Expanding Market Presence

The victory of the licensing occurs as Tokocrypto expand its operations. By 2024, the platform has reached to a level of over 4. 5 million users, and it’s monthly trading volume spiked to a staggering 138% increase. The increase of use is an indication of the increasing acceptance of Tokocrypto as well as the acceptance of cryptocurrencies in Indonesia. This achievement is greatly beneficial to enhancing the investors’ confidence in the platform and becomes a testament of its dominance in the regional crypto market.

Yudhono Rawis, CEO of Tokocrypto, said that this achievement is critical to achieving Tokocrypto’s objectives in the future. Equipped with the PFAK license, Tokocrypto is set to improve its market positioning, expand the clients’ services roster, and remain an important player in Indonesia’s crypto sphere. It is a huge advantage in the market, and more credibility and resources from Binance for the platform improve capabilities in this competitive area.

Explaining Binance’s Global Push for Compliance

Binance has had issues with regulators across the world but has in the recent past ramped up efforts to ensure that it abides by the rules of every country. This includes acquiring licenses in some countries including Bahrain and Kazakhstan and at the same time expanding its operations in Asia. Richard Teng, CEO of Binance applauded the achievement of Tokocrypto and negated again about compliance and the growth of the Web3 industry in Southeast Asia.

In general, the achievement of the PFAK license by Tokocrypto is a perfect match with the continued initiative of Binance to enforce compliance with all existing operational markets. It also reveals the increasing of partnership relationship between regulators and crypto platform, which is important for maintaining investor confidence in this emergent industry.
