🌀 Balancing Acts in the Galaxy
In Star Wars: Outlaws, choices matter. Missions often end with decisions that boost reputation with one faction but harm it with another. It’s a constant balancing act, where playing all sides is key to maxing out reputation in all factions.
🌀 Exploration Over Story
Unlike Jedi: Survivor, Outlaws focuses more on exploration than narrative. The main characters may not be the strongest point, but the Experts you meet across the galaxy are the real stars. From the deserts of Tatooine to the icy lands of Kijimi, completing their quests unlocks new skills, without the hassle of skill trees or points.
🌀 Crafting and Economy
Skills require cashing in materials collected along the journey. Outlaws cleverly integrates the crafting mechanic into the gameplay, and the economy feels balanced—if you aren’t trying to do every quest.
🌀 Diverse Yet Similar Worlds
Each planet is visually unique, with a variety of species, mini-games, factions, and vendors. However, they all share the same core elements, allowing for progress in any order.
🌀 Space Combat and Exploration
Outlaws isn't trying to compete with Starfield or No Man’s Sky. The space combat is more of an extension of the planets, with asteroid fields, space stations, and pirate caches. It’s enjoyable, but the menus, maps, and gameplay could use some polish.
🌀 A True Star Wars Experience
Outlaws proves that you don’t need Skywalkers or lightsabers to create an authentic Star Wars experience. Despite some open-world game design flaws, there’s plenty to do. For Star Wars fans, it’s one of the best games this year.
