According to CoinDesk, Proof of Play, the studio behind Pirate Nation, is set to launch Boss Chain on August 29. This new development is described as a significant step in their multichain vision aimed at supporting over 100 million players. Boss Chain, similar to the project's original Apex, operates on the Arbitrum Orbit chain, providing seamless scalability and marketplace interoperability. This advancement is crucial for horizontal scaling, which is essential for applications requiring large volumes of on-chain compute, such as new social or consumer decentralized applications (dapps).

In another development, Lombard has publicly launched LBTC, a cross-chain, yield-bearing Bitcoin token designed for decentralized finance (DeFi) use. The launch follows a successful private beta that attracted over $165 million in deposits from more than 600 institutional allocators. LBTC enables users to stake Bitcoin through Babylon and utilize it across various DeFi protocols. Initial integrations include major DeFi protocols such as Symbiotic, Morpho, Pendle, Corn, Gauntlet, Derive, EtherFi, and Gearbox.
