As reported by Ledger Insights, the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision has revealed that as of the end of 2022, the total cryptocurrency holdings of bank customers amounted to around 91 billion euros ($96 billion). Of this sum, approximately $57.5 billion was in Bitcoin, and $36.5 billion was in Ethereum.
Interestingly, seven banks in the Americas have divided responsibility for custody of the entire cryptocurrency position. However, it's noteworthy that the direct risk exposure of banks to cryptocurrency custody has significantly decreased.
