The Iota (MIOTA) protocol is currently in the headlines after it announced plans to upgrade its core network.
The announcement was another move to improve the overall functionality and usability of the protocol in recent times.
"IOTA core network update! With the upcoming update of Stardust on IOTA, the coordinator will be replaced by the Validator Committee.
The committee has been thoroughly tested on ShimmerNet and will be deployed on the core network as a temporary improvement to Coordicide."
The upcoming upgrade has been dubbed Stardust, and is intended to bring a number of fundamental changes to IOTA, including the replacement of the coordinator by a committee of validators.
In an effort to ensure the Validator Committee is properly deployed and functional, the IOTA protocol has confirmed that it has already deployed and tested the new protocol on ShimmerNet up to this point.
