Investors in the United States see cryptocurrencies as having more growth potential than traditional investment vehicles like stocks, bonds and real estate.

Crypto exchange Kraken surveyed 2,191 US residents over the age of 18 to get their sentiments on crypto investing. The survey wanted to know how many respondents plan to keep investing in crypto in 2025 and what cryptocurrencies they prefer.

The survey also examined how users perceive crypto compared to traditional investment options like stocks, bonds and real estate.

73% of US crypto users plan to keep investing in 2025

Most respondents already invest in crypto and plan to continue investing in the asset class in 2025. According to the survey results, 73% indicated a likelihood of investing in crypto in 2025. About 45% expressed strong interest in continuing their investments, while nearly 29% said they are “somewhat likely” to invest.

Survey participants who indicated a higher income for their household were more likely to express interest in crypto investing. Survey participants with a household income between $175,000 and $200,000 and above indicated an 82% likelihood of investing in crypto in 2025.

Meanwhile, 59% of participants in the $0 to $24,999 household income category also plan to continue investing in crypto.

Users see greater growth potential in crypto than in stocks or real estate

The results show that 36% believe crypto holds bigger growth potential than traditional investments like stocks, bonds and real estate. Concerning traditional assets, 34% believe that stocks hold potential, 13% believe in bonds, and 17% see potential growth in real estate.

While many respondents indicated that they see crypto as having more potential, the type of crypto investment also matters, with 70% preferring cryptpcurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC) over memecoins like Dogecoin (DOGE), which just12% s while 17% said they like emerging coins like Solana (SOL). The researchers wrote:

“This finding could suggest a focus on stability as investors prioritize coins with a longer history and a larger market cap. These coins are also generally considered more secure.”

The researchers added that this indicates a “maturing cryptocurrency investor.” While others may be chasing the next big memecoin, many see crypto as a viable option alongside traditional assets.
