**News Flash: Fractal ID Data Breach Exposes User Information**

Fractal ID, a blockchain identity platform, has revealed details of a data breach that occurred on July 14, 2024. The breach traces back to a 2022 incident where an employee reused a compromised password. This allowed an attacker to access admin rights and bypass internal data privacy systems. The breach was detected and contained within 29 minutes, affecting around 0.5% of users, or approximately 6,300 individuals.

Fractal ID swiftly disabled compromised accounts and enhanced security measures, including request throttling and stricter IP controls. They also informed affected users and contacted data protection authorities and cybercrime police in Berlin. The stolen data includes names, email addresses, phone numbers, and more. The company is committed to moving towards a self-custody storage system to bolster data security.
