TrumpCoin (DJT) surged over 55% on Wednesday following the announcement of former U.S. President Donald J. Trump’s participation in the Bitcoin 2024 Conference. Other Trump-themed memecoins also saw gains of nearly 20%.

On July 10, Donald J. Trump was announced as a keynote speaker for the Bitcoin 2024 Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, set for July 25-27. Crypto-friendly presidential candidates Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Vivek Ramaswamy will also speak at the event. David Bailey, CEO of Bitcoin Magazine, which is organizing the conference, expressed excitement, stating, “July 27th we change the course of history.” Despite the enthusiasm, some, including CryptoQuant’s CEO Ki Young Ju, questioned the authenticity of Trump’s involvement.

This increase follows a previous decline after a controversial launch when TrumpCoin was mistakenly claimed to be an “official” Trump token, causing a 30% crash in related tokens. Initially, Martin Shkreli, known as “Pharma Bro,” claimed the token was officially connected to Trump, but it was later exposed that Shkreli was behind the token, leading to a 33% decline in DJT over two weeks. However, DJT recently rebounded by 10% in the last 24 hours, trading at $0.0083.
