Ethereum co-founders Vitalik Buterin and Joseph Lubin recently addressed the future of Ethereum at a week-long event in Brussels. They highlighted the platform's evolution since 2014 and the challenges it faces, including usability and technical improvements. They praised the advent of zero-knowledge proof (ZK-proof) powered layer 2s, which have significantly improved performance and reduced costs for users. Lubin stated that Ethereum has achieved scalability and affordability, and is close to achieving usability. Buterin focused on the challenges for Ethereum as a base layer for its L2-centric approach, including censorship and barriers to solo and pooled staking.
