About Songbird
Songbird (SGB) is a cryptocurrency that exists mainly as a testnet digital asset or canary network, where fully operational blockchains function as testing grounds for a mainnet.
Songbird is one of two native cryptocurrencies on the Flare decentralized network. Flare is an independent blockchain solution developed to facilitate cross-chain cryptocurrency payments between otherwise dissociated decentralized ecosystems while providing the security of a multi-chain implementation.
The network is created and designed to introduce better bridging and interoperability in the blockchain space. Flare’s State Connector is the first blockchain interoperability primitive launched by the network. It is said to encourage seamless decentralized integration with web2 data.
Flare State Connector can therefore reach consensus on off-chain data, thereby allowing on and off-chain data to be accessed and used in a trustless manner. Smart contract chains are said to connect to insured bridges in the network scheme, making it possible to bring non smart contract ecosystems such as BTC, XRP and DOGE to the Flare network ecosystem.
SGB is the network coin used mainly in testnet scenarios for the Layer 1 Flare blockchain prior to broader live implementation. There is a limited supply for both Flare network cryptocurrencies - SGB and Spark (FLR). While it is not available for direct purchase, SGB price is updated and available in real-time on Binance.
