La negación ante las pérdidas
Por otro lado, cuando una operación se mueve en nuestra contra, algo curioso sucede. En lugar de aceptar la pérdida y cerrarla, nuestro cerebro activa un mecanismo de negación. Pensamos: "Esto se va a recuperar, solo es cuestión de tiempo". No queremos aceptar que estábamos equivocados. Dejar correr la pérdida se convierte en un intento de evitar enfrentar esa realidad, pero con cada segundo que pasa, el agujero financiero y emocional se hace más grande.
La trampa emocional
Esta dicotomía, entre cerrar las ganancias rápidamente y dejar correr las pérdidas, no tiene lógica financiera, pero tiene todo el sentido desde el punto de vista emocional. Nos duele más perder algo que ya considerábamos nuestro que lo que ganamos. Este fenómeno, conocido como aversión a la pérdida, explica por qué protegemos nuestras pequeñas ganancias con tanto celo, pero nos aferramos a pérdidas cada vez mayores con la esperanza de revertirlas.
¿Por qué es importante dejar correr las ganancias?
En el trading, dejar correr las ganancias no es solo una cuestión de maximizar beneficios, es también una forma de compensar las inevitables pérdidas. El mercado no es perfecto, y habrá operaciones negativas. La única manera de ser rentable a largo plazo es permitiendo que las operaciones ganadoras den lo máximo de sí mismas, según nuestro plan. Cortar esas ganancias demasiado rápido limita nuestro potencial y afecta nuestra consistencia.

4. Práctica y simulación: Opera en simuladores o cuentas pequeñas hasta que logres desensibilizarte al miedo y las emociones.
5. Adopta una mentalidad a largo plazo: Ninguna operación, ganadora o perdedora, define tu carrera. Lo que importa es la consistencia en el tiempo.
6. Reflexiona después de cada operación: Pregúntate si actuaste según tu plan o según tus emociones, y ajusta en consecuencia.
