In a move poised to significantly advance the integration of artificial intelligence with blockchain technology, the NEAR Foundation has announced a substantial support measure for NEAT Protocol, a specialized rollup solution for AI applications on the NEAR platform.

The foundation has delegated 1 million $NEAR tokens to NEAT, with the intent to redistribute all token rewards from this delegation to $NEAT stakers, promising an attractive annual percentage yield (APY) of 120-200%. This initiative is part of a broader effort by the NEAR Foundation to nurture AI and blockchain collaborations within its ecosystem, setting a precedent for future projects.

Innovative Solutions for Scalable AI on NEAR

NEAT Protocol stands out as the first rollup scaling protocol to gain official backing from the NEAR Foundation. The funding aims to enhance NEAT’s infrastructure to support a wider array of use cases and attract a more extensive user base to its platform.

As a rollup scaling solution built on the NEAR inscription standard, NEAT is specifically engineered to streamline AI and machine-learning applications on blockchain, addressing the high computational demands of these technologies through efficient data handling and reduced transaction costs.

NEAT’s approach revolutionizes the conventional rollup process by utilizing off-chain indexer nodes for execution, while relying on NEAR’s Layer 1 (L1) for data availability.

This structure eliminates the necessity for rollups to deploy smart contracts or run verification logic on L1, significantly cutting down transaction costs and enhancing the system’s overall efficiency.

This optimization makes NEAT an ideal platform for computationally intensive applications, including AI and interactive gaming environments.

Further enhancing the ecosystem is the NEAR Catalog, powered by NEAT, which is in the process of developing an advanced indexer. This new tool is designed to provide flexible and cost-effective indexing and querying capabilities, facilitating seamless interactions and data retrieval across the NEAR platform.

This development is crucial for projects looking to integrate complex data sets and require robust, scalable solutions to manage their operations.

The Dual Utility of $NEAT Tokens

$NEAT tokens exist in two forms: NRC-20 and NEP-141, with a total circulation of 42 million tokens. These tokens are central to the NEAT ecosystem, providing multiple benefits to their holders.

For instance, stakers of $NEAT-NEP141 not only receive rewards from the staked $NEAR tokens but also benefit from a share of fees generated from various operations within the ecosystem, including wrap/unwrap activities and marketplace transactions.

Moreover, once NEAT’s decentralized indexer network becomes operational, a portion of the indexing fees will be distributed among $NEAT-NEP141 stakers. This decentralized network is set to be the first of its kind, allowing any project to store data on the NEAR blockchain and deploy custom indexing logic on a decentralized set of indexer nodes.

It also aims to ensure verifiable execution through the use of zero-knowledge proofs, enhancing the security and reliability of the data processed.

Future Applications and the Impact on AI Development

One of the most promising applications of NEAT’s technology lies in the field of artificial intelligence. With its robust indexing capabilities and the ability to integrate off-chain execution through zero-knowledge proofs, NEAT is paving the way for innovative AI-driven projects.

Examples include fully open-source AI-powered games where community involvement can directly influence the game’s narrative, with all interactions and histories securely inscribed on the blockchain.

This blend of blockchain’s transparency with off-chain computational efficiency is set to make AI more accessible, fostering the growth of a genuinely open and participatory network. As NEAT continues to evolve and expand its offerings, the impact on the AI and blockchain landscape looks set to be profound, marking a significant step forward in the realization of decentralized and scalable AI applications.
