Changpeng "CZ" Zhao, Billionaire founder and former chief executive officer of Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange has been sentenced to 4 months in prison in the US.
US authorities had strongly sought a 3-year sentence, but the judge stated there was no solid evidence that CZ knew about the illegalities committed by Binance. It was like a case of visiting the sins of the father on the son, or is it the other way around. Sometimes the US government does go a bit too far to bring popular people down, especially where big money is involved. An overbearing governmental situation if you ask me. It was clear that CZ was likeable and had good public support and followership influencing the light sentence. Fair enough for the crypto industry.
