According to U.Today, The Open Network (TON) is planning to launch a layer-2 scaling solution to expand its ecosystem. The TON Applications Chain (TAC) will develop this layer-2 solution, powered by zk technology. TON is known as one of the most technologically advanced networks in the industry and aims to reflect this in the proposed layer-2 engine. The network intends to use the Polygon Chain Development Kit (CDK) to design the layer-2 solution.

The layer-2 protocol will connect to the AggLayer, allowing for seamless interoperability and unified liquidity for the wider TON blockchain ecosystem. This new solution will not only enhance scalability but also introduce new features to decentralized applications (dApps) on Telegram. One such feature is the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatibility that these new dApps will have. With EVM, TON applications can easily integrate with others in the Ethereum ecosystem, which has the largest market liquidity for DeFi. This connection between TON and Ethereum will provide users with the best of both worlds without necessitating unhealthy trade-offs. The introduction of EVM compatibility will also enable TON to reach more users in the industry.

TON has been making significant strides in the industry, particularly through its popular Play-2-Earn games. With games like Notcoin (NOT) and Hamster Kombat attracting over 200 million monthly active users, TON believes that creating a chain to scale these games is the best way to level up. The ecosystem's native coin, Toncoin (TON), has shown positive momentum so far, currently trading at $7.33, an increase of 0.84% in the past 24 hours. More details about the layer-2 solution are expected to be released soon, which could potentially lead to further growth for TON.
