According to Odaily, Gala Games has announced the destruction of 44 billion GALA tokens from an attacker's wallet. The move was made to eliminate erroneously minted GALA. The team also recovered all ETH and used it for GalaSwap to buy back and destroy nearly another 10 billion GALA tokens.
Previously, Gala Games had reported the destruction of nearly 10 billion GALA tokens. The Gala community had initiated a governance proposal concerning the 'temporary GALA token contract upgrade and token destruction'. The proposal pointed out that due to recent security incidents, unauthorized minting and selling of approximately 6 billion GALA tokens, and the permanent lock of about 44 billion tokens, the proposal aimed to formally destroy these approximately 44 billion GALA tokens, as well as about 6 billion GALA tokens from the GALA treasury, to ensure the stability and sustainability of the ecosystem.
