Dead by Daylight’s game developer Behaviour Interactive released a new skin for the survivor, Ellen Ripley, during the launch weekend for the movie Alien: Romulus. The skin, a Legendary Outfit, can change Ripley’s likeness to that of Rain, the main character in the Alien: Romulus horror movie.

The Dead by Daylight’s team revealed that players cannot mix or match the Legendary Outfit with other Outfits. The Outfit, which features the likeness of a different character, also has a distinct in-game icon.

Rain’s feature in the game will follow her mission to find her friends on the Renaissance space station. Cailee Spaeny plays the character in the movie Alien: Romulus. From the released trailer featuring the new skin, many gamers recognized Rain’s voice as similar to Cailee Spaeny.

20th Century Studios and Disney released the Alien: Romulus movie on August 16 in theaters worldwide. The movie’s reception has been significantly positive, racking in over $41 million during the opening weekend. A Forbes review mentioned that the film was ‘scary and filled with great surprises.’

The Dead by Daylight announcement introduced the Rain skin to the game and described it as the ‘Alien: Romulus Collection.’ The title created mixed perceptions of the newly released skin for Ellen Ripley.

Some believed that Behaviour Interactive should have released more skins in the Alien: Romulus Collection since it is a collection. Some gamers felt that multiple alien skins should be available, including for the Xenomorph, scorched xenomorph, or warrior alien.

Other DBD players expressed similar sentiments across social media platforms, including Reddit and YouTube. Others believed the DBD team called it a collection since they planned to add more features later.

Players still expressed a lot of enthusiasm for the released Rain Legendary Outfit. Some explicitly said the team should have given gamers Rain instead of the ‘botched failed science experiment called Ellen Ripley.’

One X user mentioned in an X post that Ripley’s new Rain skin might wipe her off the DBD map. Another said Behaviour Interactive took more care designing Rain than the team did for Ellen Ripley. A Redditor also commented that they would rather play Rain since Ripley looked awful.

DBD to add Castlevania’s Trevor Belmont and Dracula

Dead by Daylight’s upcoming collaboration will be with the Castlevania franchise, introducing Trevor Belmont and Count Dracula to the Fog. Castlevania has been a revered franchise since the onset of gaming. The franchise is an iconic creation of Japan’s Konami.

Dracula is the main villain in the franchise, featuring exceptional abilities and forms players can take advantage of in Dead by Daylight. According to the game’s announcement of the Castlevania collaboration, the Dark Lord can take many forms. The bats and the wolf are all proficient in tracking and killing victims.

Jason Guzzo, a Dead by Daylight developer, is behind the upcoming creations of Dracula in the Fog. Guzzo explained the need to maintain game internal rules while creating animal characters to prevent ‘game-breaking.’

Trevor Belmont will be the survivor facing Dracula, with DBD’s developer mentioning the character’s ability to stand against the Dark Lord. The DBD team hinted at features such as the Eyes of Belmont, a statement power among the Belmonts.
