FBI reaches out to WazirX on alleged crypto heist by North Korean cybercriminals: Report🚨 WazirX on July 18 confirmed facing security breach and temporarily stopped INR and crypto withdrawals, following the suspicious transfer of assets worth $230 million from one of its multi signature wallets. US intelligence agency Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has reached out for information to Indian crypto platform WazirX to study the nature of a cyberattack allegedly involving North Korean hackers, The Economic Times has reported. "Global law enforcement agencies, such as the FBI, want to future-proof their own cryptocurrency market from any such shocks, and their expertise will greatly benefit the company’s efforts as well," a person close to WazirX told ET. Moneycontrol couldn't independently verify the report. WazirX on July 18 confirmed facing a security breach and temporarily stopped INR and crypto withdrawals, following the suspicious transfer of assets worth $230 million from one of its multi-signature wallets.

Pump and Dump Schemes: An influencer or someone with a large following buys a substantial amount of low-value cryptocurrency; hypes it up, can be in the form of marketing shots to pump up pricing on social media platforms. After raising the price, they sell it ( dump ), and leave major losses for those who entered last. 2. Fake ICOs and Projects : This includes launching Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) or any new projects which are based out of fraudulence. Here, they raise money from investors claiming high returns or unique solution and scam away with the raised amount. 3. Rug Pulls Developers create a new token and promote. Receiving an impressive amount of investment, they remove all liquidity and the token becomes worthless. 4. Phishing: A common method for creating a fake website, email or message that mimics legitimate exchange wallets and steals login information to access investors' funds. 5. Ponzi Schemes: If it offers high returns for little or no risk, leaves the promises vague, and pays them back by paying out part of their own vested money from other newcomers. 6. Social Engineering : They Use their authority to get your trust then trick you (Scammers) into giving him/her private keys or they tell victims it will send directly, hormones. 7. Manipulating Market Sentiment : Spreading false information or rumors to manipulate the price of a cryptocurrency for their gain, often through social media or other online platforms. 8. Airdrop Scams : Promising free tokens in exchange for personal information or small amounts of existing cryptocurrencies, but the tokens never arrive, and the scammers collect valuable data or funds.
